Adrian Locher
He is driven by curiosity, learning and building things. When he was a kid, he built things from wood, then started to build computers and software, and today he is building companies. Shortly after he exited his last company in 2015, his second child was born and he realized he wanted to spend his time either with people he truly loves or having an impact on the world by making one of the most important technologies of the 21st century work for us. With AI incubator Merantix, he ended up combining the two.

Andrew Rechtman
After 15 years treading the well-worn corporate path in his native Australia, Andrew recently moved to Barcelona, where he is launching a new life with his inspiring partner Vanesa. Together, they are aiming to spend less time working and more time living, focusing on health, happiness and growing old with even more joy than was experienced in their youth. When he hasn’t been hard at work in digital businesses Andrew has spent much of his time in the kitchen, in the yoga studio or enjoying open air exercise, while his passion for learning and addiction to stories has sensibly migrated from an attempted career in film-making (many moons ago) to consuming a wide range of media and podcasts.

Clara Pfeffer
Growing up between the small German city Mainz and the mega metropole Rio de Janeiro and later on moving to Cologne my life has always been defined by contrasts and finding the connecting elements within those (in that case: carnival). As much as my passions are languages and arts, I loved studying economics and politics. When it comes to carnival what makes it special to me is not the part of getting wasted (although I do like drinks), but more the idea of having a whole city joining into one big party where everyone can be whoever or whatever they want to be. One semester in Shanghai, one in Lisbon and four at the University of Cologne later I started into working life in 2018. Driven by my infinite curiosity I chose to ask questions for a living - and became a journalist. When I turn off the computer I usually start a deep discussion with whoever is around or spend my time reading, skiing, walking or traveling.

Dan Duncan
Born into a musical family, he had a multinational upbringing in the UK/USA/Spain with a clear cut vision of his future in the arts from an extremely young age. After spending the late 80s working as a programmer and sound engineer for bands such as Depeche Mode, Vangelis, The Cure, Stone Roses, and The Verve, he stemmed off to build his own journey and proceeded to create a name for himself in the more underground side of the music industry. Since developing himself and creating a musical identity, he had the incredible honor of playing on some of the most prestigious stages globally as a DJ/Producer. As a great fan of innovation and searching for new ways of using technology to enhance the experience within my industry, he has now started a new venture with Polygon People, a company that creates events that feature the integration of real life performances within authentic virtual surroundings. His focus has always been on orchestrating unity and euphoria. For me nothings changed accept the way it’s delivered to the audience.

Rachel Sibley
Driven to build not only a more connected world, but networks of communities that can evolve, scale, and bridge divides. She believes that technology can make us not only more powerful but also more humane—and that both are required to create true value.
Born to a family of artists in the high desert mountains of West Texas, Rachel has worked & lived in 20+ countries. A polymath & natural entrepreneur, during her 20s Rachel co-founded for-profit ventures (including one of the first video production companies to build & deploy drones), arts organizations (her favorite: an international Latin Dance Festival), and wellness initiatives (most meaningfully: a suicide awareness program at the university with the highest incidence of suicide in the USA). She has served on senior leadership teams of companies both large (eg, IBM—where she opened 29 global design studios in one year) and scrappy (eg, Leap Motion, where she led go-to-market efforts to bring physical interaction to augmented and virtual reality). Currently AR/VR Lecturer at Singularity University, Rachel works with Fortune 500 companies, governments, and entrepreneurs to ramp into exponential mindsets and strategically deploy immersive technology. As we move into the cyborg generation and technology becomes increasingly intimate, personalized, and kinesthetic, Rachel’s background as an award-winning dancer and choreographer affords her a unique perspective on the possibilities and perils of embodying this complex new digital world. When not tinkering with big ideas, Rachel likes to hike tall mountains, sit quietly in monasteries, and teach social dance. She & her wee daughter recently returned home to Texas, where Rachel works remotely while enjoying the grandeur of the vast desert skies.

She then initiated a career in consulting that took her to the US, Australia and the UK. She has alternated intense periods of work, launching and leading businesses mainly in financial services and real estate, with periods dedicated to travelling and learning, and is now building her own advisory business while - in splendid contrast - she learns swing trading and voice acting. In recent times she has also leapt into a new relationship with her partner Andrew, whom she re-discovered 20 years after they first met, and is setting out to enjoy and discover this next phase of life’s journey with him and her daughter Alexandra.

Volker Schmidt
Volker considers himself a generalist which is another way of saying he has a very short attention span. He believes in lifelong learning and loves trying new things i.e. being where the learning curve is steepest, meeting new people and visiting new places. With both his parents being sport teachers there aren’t many sports Volker hasn’t tried. Current favorites include kitesurfing, wingfoiling, surfing, skiing, triathlon and Ultimate (a frisbee team sport).
Family life, sport and adventure are major contributors to his happiness and provide for most of his best memories. Having twin girls grandchildren which he sees every week has helped him becoming more relaxed (e.g. in sports he is no longer competing with his “younger self” but in the “grandpa division”) and regain some of the playful joy of kids.
Volker is an industrial engineer and MBA by background and also spent 8 years with BCG. He enjoys working with well positioned companies and helping them grow. Managing small cap private equity funds for more than 15 years has given him the opportunity to take a close look at hundreds of successful niche companies (and investing in ten of them). In 2019 he left the fund he had cofounded and is now operating from a much smaller setup allowing him to focus even more on the things he loves to do.
